Frequently Asked Questions
Will I Need a Car?
Airport transfers to Port Douglas can be arranged from Cairns, however we generally find it easier to hire a car and self-drive. Having a car also allows flexibility with shopping for food supplies etc. however Port Douglas has a good bus system stopping at many of the major resorts in the area, so you may not need a car the whole time you are there. If you do decide to hire a car we recommend AVIS, Budget or Thrifty as these three companies have offices in the town.
Can I Hire Baby Accessories?
If you are holidaying with a baby on board you may choose to consider hiring some items locally to save on luggage expenses. There are a few local companies who hire out cots, prams, car seats, toys and other products to make sure your precious little one has a great time away from home as well. For more information, check out Port Resort Baby Hire and Baby Equipment Hire.
Can I Drink the Water?
The tap water in Port Douglas is safe to drink, however there are several shops in the area that sell bottled water if that’s what you’d prefer.
